There is a variety of traps in the market; you can get a wire trap, box trap, and black holes. A wire trap is also referred to as Macabee. It is designed in such a way that it can squeeze the rodents with their prongs. This is among the methods commonly used since it is more efficient as compared to other techniques.

This is a simple technique as you are required to place it in the opening of a tunnel being dug by a gopher. In this case, you are required to be knowledgeable on how to identify the fresh mounds. This technique can give an assurance of eliminating the rodents from your farm without straining a lot.

Focus on the fresh mounds. You will identify them depending on how the dirt looks like and the nature of the soil. In most instances, the soil is wet and soft, and sections of grass are pushed up. You will instantly realize that the rodent is in progress with tunnel digging activity. Prepare your working tools to engage in the hunting activity.

Dig a hole around the opening of each mound until you reach to the opening of the tunnels. It is important to note that these rodents are not concerned about the hill but concentrate more on the digging activity. You may find two tunnels, which means that you should be careful to identify the right one.

Now you can lay your trap in the exit of that tunnel. Make sure you have covered it with soil. These animals are known to have a poor vision but ensure the trap is not identified. In case they walk over it, they will instantly get caught. Additionally, tire the trap against a stake to avoid it from being pulled away.

When a gopher walks over the trap, it will instantly be trapped. You need to get lid of it through burying it. In case the mound was away from your home, you can use the mound soil to bury it. You can also consider digging another hole in the garden to bury it effectively. It is an effective way to get lid of gophers in your farm.

In the process of waiting to catch the gophers, you need to be patient enough. Visit the traps severally to confirm that they are still in the right position if they have not yet caught a gopher. It might take you a few minutes or hours since it depends on how busy the gopher is inside the tunnel.
