Better House Ventilation With Louver Vents

By Cynthia Peterson

The most common way of keeping your home from rain, direct heat of sun, and noise is through putting louvers. These are like jalousies that has horizontal slats in a diagonal position for better passage of light and air. Jalousies have its handles that lets the diagonal slats to be moved according to your desired angle, while louvers have its fixed slat angles.

Old louvers are usually made out from barrel. And through the years, it has evolved into more designs which are more like modern louver vents. An example for this are window blinds, which is made up of slats that can be opened and closed by pulling a string.

Gable vent is a louver that is popular and is being used before. Vents which are commonly used attics are gable and screened. Both can be used in different materials, sizes, and shapes. The top of the attic is being provided by a reasonable number of ventilation and does not have an equal amount with some parts.

Soffit and ridge venting are the two other ways of venting the attics. A type which allows the air passage from the under part of the roof is called the soffit venting. Moisture is reduced inside the attic when this type of venting is being used. And the type which is placed at the top most part of the sloped roof for humid air to escape is called the ridge venting.

Most vents in this modern time are usually made from woods, glass, metal, or aluminum. They may be opened and closed through the use of a pulley or some modernized operators. Vents are being used also as a part of the effects of some architectural buildings. These are usually placed in the facades of the buildings which are combined with different types of louvers and designs.

During typhoons and floods, louvers can also help in making less damage, especially to the walls of its structure. It is because it serves as an opening for the flood. And thus, it controls and balances the pressure from the inside, and so reducing the possibility of breaking the walls.

These are also very common in industries like factories and power plants. Because it provides natural ventilation by controlling the temperature. Workers have a hard time working in this kind of environment since it is very challenging to work in hot areas especially in summer season. So if the temperature outside is high, the temperature inside will be high as well. Natural ventilation is already used by many industries today.

Transportation used for animal towing are common examples. People before had a problem in giving the animals fresh air when inside a vehicle. For competitive races, horses are being towed and transported to different places. And most vehicles does not have a proper passage of air and thus, resulting to the suffocation of animals due to the gases produced by vehicles.

Since the crisis of global warming is increasing nowadays, the climate in most houses, buildings, and other infrastructures also changes. Installation of vents are very much important for constant temperature control and insulation. This would be best because of temperature and weather swings and more importantly, for good and proper ventilation.
